Gregory Esch

Obituary of Gregory E. Esch

Gregory Eugene Esch

After 92 outstanding years of achievement, creativity and troublemaking, Greg “Breakaway Esch” finally broke away for good on Feb 19, 2023, in Deland, FL.

Preceded in death by parents Hedwig Hensler and Otto N. Esch and infant daughter Jayne Marie.  Survived by his wife Joni (Bethke) Esch; children Paul (Debbie), Tom (Kristen), John (Marinn), Dan (Elizabeth), Julie (John); ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother Mike Esch; niece Mary (Sid); and Norma Ames, mother of his six children.

Raised in Frogtown, he worked in the family construction supply business for many years. He valued education. Cretin High School, St. John’s University, St. Paul Seminary, a master’s degree at Notre Dame and studies overseas ignited a life-long passion for learning and fueled his dynamic career as motivational speaker and consultant for corporate leaders, pro athletes and Fortune 500 companies. His Catholic faith meant everything to him and he consistently set a high bar for himself and for others. Greg’s zest for life, tenacious capacity as an entrepreneur and sense of humor will be missed by those who knew him best.

Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 3rd, 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Little Canada.  Visitation before Mass from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
