Obituary of Jim Walsh

John James “Jim”Walsh Jim was born November 26, 1929, in St. Paul. He attended Cathedral Grade School, Cretin High School (class of 1948), and began post-secondary education in 1949 at Dunwoody Institute of Technology. His training was interrupted by serving in the Air National Guard, building aircraft in CA during the Korean War. Upon returning to Minnesota, he completed his program earning a Certificate of Sheet Metal in 1953. He began working with his father and uncle at Thomas Finn Roofing Company, became Vice President in 1962, and COO in 1970. Thomas Finn celebrated 100 years in business in 1998 and shortly after, Jim attempted retirement. He was a member of the St. Paul Optimist Club, The St. Paul Business Men, Norske Torske Klubben, and enjoyed traveling extensively. Jim passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 26th at the age of 87, preceded in death by his mother Mary, father Richard, sister Marriott, and brother Lawrence. He is survived by his bride of 60 years, Rose Marie, their six children, Thomas (June), Mary Langevin (Rick), Carol Lugg (Paul), Greg (Patti), Stephen, Richard (Crista), his nine grandchildren, Thomas, Catherine, Tony, Angela, Natalie, Victor, Patrick, Erin, Andrew, and his siblings Richard, Alice, and Mary. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Church of St. Stanislaus, 398 Superior Street, St. Paul. Visitation 4-8PM Wednesday at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Av., St. Paul, 651-228-1006 and at church 1 hour before the Mass. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
